Mumbai, Aug 5 (KNN) The Maharashtra government is making a major digital leap by developing an AI-powered “super portal” for its Labour and Industry departments.

The portal, expected to be launched by September 2025, aims to simplify services, reduce paperwork, and enhance user experience for businesses and workers alike.

The state cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 4.95 crore for the project. Once launched, this single integrated portal will replace the need to visit multiple department websites.

It will use artificial intelligence to automate queries, assist users in real-time, and offer customised services based on user profiles and past interactions.

Officials say the new portal will help industries and workers interact more efficiently with the government.

Currently, businesses have to deal with various processes like factory licensing, labour registrations, contract labour compliance, and inspections through different platforms. The super portal will consolidate all these services, making operations smoother.

One of the key goals is to improve the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in Maharashtra. By integrating AI, the portal will not only ensure faster service delivery but also reduce human error and delays.

The Labour Commissionerate and the Directorate of Industries will both be part of this digital transformation. The system is being designed to be transparent, trackable, and responsive to users’ needs.

It will also support mobile access, ensuring convenience for users across the state, especially in remote areas.

This step aligns with the state’s larger vision of digital governance and industry-friendly reforms. By September, the government expects the AI-driven portal to be fully operational, setting a new standard in how public services are delivered.
