Maharashtra govt leverages MIHAN to strengthen drug manufacturing ecosystem

New Delhi, Jan 23 (KNN) The Multimodal International Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) area is also being used for creating an ecosystem for manufacturing of drug and medical equipment, said Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Sunday.

Following India’s vision of becoming ‘pharmacy of the world’, the state government is proactively and acquiring land for setting up bulk drug park, said the Deputy CM at an event.

He was addressing the valedictory programme of the 72nd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) on the campus of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU).

Jagannath Shinde, President of All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists; Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU; T V Narayana, President of Indian Pharmaceutical Association and General IPC Association and several other industrials and officials were present on this occasion.

Deputy CM Fadnavis lauded the success of the 72nd IPC and appreciated the presence of students and said that India had taken great strides in pharmaceutical sector.

He also thanked the efforts of the scientists, researchers, pharmaceutical industry, and other stakeholders under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Emphasising on the need for more scientific innovations in drug manufacturing, he said “Also, we must create more intellectual property, and reduce dependence on import of raw materials.”  (KNN Bureau)
