Maharashtra to set-up first Circular economy park at Talegaon

Pune, Apr 5 (KNN) The Maharashtra government is considering to set up a circular economy park at the Talegaon industrial belt in Pune district, reported TOI quoting a source.

The circular economy park will focus on recycling scrap and other wastes manufactured in the area.

“The state government has decided to first draft a policy for the circular economy parks and then start the land acquisition,” the official informed.

The Maharashtra government in the state budget have allocated funds for the park to come up in state.

In his budget speech, home minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that based on the principle of reduce, reuse and recycle, circular economy parks will be set up at six places — Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik and Ratnagiri.

The proposed circular economy parks will support economic development and attract more investment in the state, added the industry department officials.

The objective is to make the industries world-class. The parks will also help create an additional 4-5 million direct jobs, they said.

The state government is optimistic of creating 5-10 million direct employment opportunities from the upcoming circular economy parks.  (KNN Bureau)
