Mumbai, June 24 (KNN) The Maharashtra government on Friday signed an agreement with Renew Power Ltd to set up a Rs 20,000 crore renewable energy project in Nagpur. 

The energy project will come up on an area of 500 acres and will lead to a creation of over 8000-10000 direct and indirect jobs, an official statement said.

As per reports, an Expression of Interest (EOI) was also signed by the company and the state industries department.

Earlier, the state government had inked MoUs with Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Mahaurja and Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) for development of 5,220 MW renewable energy projects in the state.

The Maharashtra government is promoting renewable energy projects in the state in order to meet the growing demand for electricity.   (KNN Bureau)
