Thane, June 1 (KNN) The Maharashtra government will set up a skill development centres in industrial hubs to help employees upgrade their skills, said Mangal Prabhat Lodha, minister of tourism, skill development and entrepreneurship.

Addressing the media in Thane on Wednesday, Lodha pointed out that the state government was planning to introduce skill development centres in factories and within community centres.

This will bridge the gap for those aspiring to learn or upgrade new skills relevant to their respective professions and will not just benefit the job seekers but also the employers,” Lodha said.

The minister also announced a series of developmental works for Thane district including introducing the Sagarmala scheme that will allow ports to be developed and full-fledged passenger transport to start from there.

As per reports, a plan is also being prepared for development of popular tourist places in the district.

Lodha informed the media that the development work on the Thane railway station will soon begin.

“The tender process has been completed and work will start soon. Thane railway station is historical but its development was stalled for years. It will now be done,” he added.  (KNN Bureau)
