Maintenance of Industrial Areas in Mohali, Punjab handed over to municipal corporation

Mohali, Aug 10 (KNN) Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation (PSIEC) has handed over maintenance and upkeep of the industrial area phase VIII-A and VIII-B Mohali to Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar.

It was handed over in the presence of Balbir Singh Sidhu, Minister for Labour, Health & Family Welfare and Sunder Sham Arora, Minister for Industries & Commerce. 

''The handing over of maintenance and upkeep of Industrial Area Phase 8A and 8B Mohali to Municipal Corporation by PSIEC has brought relief to the industries located in the area,'' said Mohali Industries Association (MIA) on Monday.

Yogesh Sagar, president, MIA said that the demand was long pending and required on urgent basis as the upkeep and maintenance of the area is overdue. The Industrial fraternity had been looking forward to this change.

''The Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar is doing commendable work and we are confident that the infrastructure of industrial area Phase 8A & 8B will be developed soon so that more IT industries can come up in this area,'' he added.

During a ceremony, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Minister for Labour, Health & Family Welfare Punjab said that this was the need of the hour as these industrial areas needed to be revamped in terms of infrastructure. He also expressed confidence that Municipal Corporation will now be able to transform these areas in a big way and develop as a Model Industrial Area.

''The development of Industrial Area Phase VIII A & B Mohali is very important as the industry is already depositing GST, Income Tax, Property tax etc. therefore it becomes the duty of the Corporation to provide good infrastructure to the Industry,'' he added.

Sunder Sham Arora, Industries Minister Punjab said that the maintenance and upkeep of Industrial Phase 8A & 8B Mohali and better infrastructure would attract more industries and provide employment opportunities to many.

Speaking on the occasion Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu said that work on the most difficult issue of garbage dump work has started and within a year the area will be free of garbage. He assured the members that the Corporation will take up the infrastructure improvement work on war footing and soon the area will be available for more industries to be set up in the area.
