New Delhi, Mar 13 (KNN) Protesting against the ongoing sealing drive in the national capital on the directive of a Supreme Court appointed committee, traders in Delhi have called for a ‘trade bandh’ on Tuesday, 13th March.

Talking to KNN, Narendra Madan, Chairman of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said that the traders in Delhi will go on strike against the sealing drive by calling off a bandh today.

Commenting over the sealing row, Madan said that while the small traders in the national capital continue to suffer, there is politics being played on their concern.

“Nobody wants to solve our problems, we are being used as a tool to play politics, had it been otherwise, the situation could have been different”, he said.

CAIT in a statement informed over 7 lakh traders belonging to 2500 different trade associations are to participate in the protest.

Markets including Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony, Khan Market, Sadar Bazaar, Model Town and Kalkaji are likely to remain closed on the call.

The traders have urged both the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government and the central government to keep politics aside and help address their concern by bringing in an ordinance in the house.

Civic bodies have undertaken the sealing drive initiated by a Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee on December 2017 last year. The committee is sealing business establishments that are using residential properties for commercial purposes. (KNN/DA)
