Make UP roads pothole free by June 15, adopt e-tendering process: Yogi Adityanath to PWD officials

Lucknow, Mar 27 (KNN) Aiming to address two major issues of the state – infrastructure and malpractices in tenders, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the PWD Officials to make UP roads pothole free by June 15, 2017.

Development of roads and infrastructure has been a long pending demand of industry in the state who have been saying that poor roads increases there logistic burdens and hampers ease of doing business environment in the state.

During his first public appearance in Gorakhpur after taking over as the state's chief minister, Adityanath declared that he had told the PWD officials to ensure that there are no potholes in the roads of the state by June 15.

An official statement released in Lucknow said that chief minister gave the instructions to make UP roads pothole free at a review meeting of PWD.

He also asked the officials to complete all works and projects within the prescribed time frame on a priority basis.

He has directed the officials to prepare a work plan to extend better facilities to the people residing in rural areas.

The Chief Minister also asked for adopting e-tendering in order to make the system transparent and corruption free.

Corruption in tendering process is another issue which has been highlighted by MSMEs in the state. The sector has been demanding to make tendering more transparent and fare.

Adityanath stressed on the need to keep tainted firms and contractors having mafia, criminal and corrupt image away from departmental works and instead give an opportunity to those with clean image who can ensure qualitative work. (KNN Bureau)
