Chandigarh, Mar 5 (KNN) Punjab Markfed, Asia's largest marketing cooperative, wants to rope in the private sector for setting up packaged drinking water unit at village Chuharwali in Jalandhar district, approximately 150 kilometres from the state capital.

Markfed, a Punjab government undertaking, sells food products like ghee, refined oils, sauces and basmati rice. Markfed has made a foray into the mineral water market in Indian and international level, realizing its brand patronage and it is exploring all possibilities to take this unique initiative to give a major fillip to the economy of the state’s prestigious marketing cooperative.

In this context, Markfed Punjab, the Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation, seeks bids from private companies for designing, supplying, installing and commissioning of the plant on turnkey basis.

The plant should be fully integrated for water treatment including reverse osmosis with the output capacity of 1000 litres per hour.

The plant will have the PET Bottle Blowing Machines and fully automatic bottle rinsing, filling and capping line and auxiliary equipment like bopp labelling, collating and shrink wrapping.

The entire matter relating to the launch of packaged drinking water was thoroughly discussed with the top brass of the Cooperation department in a high level meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal last year. (KNN/SD)
