Meghalaya endeavours to expand horticulture hubs

Shillong, Nov 6 (KNN)  In an effort to expand the horticultural industry, the Government of Meghalaya is set to infuse a one-time capital investment under the special plan assistance.

In this context, it seeks service providers for green house construction, project implementation, production technology, post-harvest management and marketing for empanelment under the Capital Investment Scheme on Horticulture Area Expansion Projects, according to an official notification.

The state government would partner with the service providers for scaling of area, production and market development of major identified and successful commercial crops of the state and building up of crop cultivation spokes attached to the various horti hubs.

The Department of Agriculture, Meghalaya has been functioning as an integrated entity comprising the various spheres of development in Agriculture, Horticulture and Minor Irrigation. The mandate of the department is to bring about increased crop production and productivity. (KNN/ST)
