Micro-ATM facilities set up at clusters to enable weavers & artisans withdraw money

New Delhi, Nov 28 (KNN) The artisans and weavers at remote locations are now able to withdraw money through the micro-ATMs deployed by various banks after the Textiles Minister Smriti Irani had urged banks to help weavers with cash availability at clusters.

The weavers and artisans, who mainly depend on cash transactions for their day to day work, are now able to withdraw money in minimal time and continue their daily activity.

In a tweet, the Ministry of Textiles said, “We are grateful to banks for supporting us and reaching out to the weavers in timely manner.”

The Micro-ATM facilities have been set up at Varanasi, Pochampally in Hyderabad, Champa in Chhattisgarh and a cluster in Cuttack.

Also, giving push to Hon PM's clarion call of ushering in digital payment revolution, Irani has urged weavers/artisans to use the Unified Payments Interface using mobiles.

Meanwhile, Irani today launched the India Handloom Brand Collection of India's leading menswear brand Peter England.

Focusing on environment sustainability, the company has used 'Mother of Pearl' buttons instead of plastic & packaged in recycled papers. (KNN Bureau)
