Modern facility for perishable cargo at Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Jul 15 (KNN) Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation (GAIC) will be setting up a modern facility for perishable cargo at the Ahmedabad Airport to boost exports of farm products.

The Minister of State for Civil Aviation, G M Siddeswara informed the Parliament today that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has leased out land measuring 3685 square metres to M/s Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd. (GAICL).

The land has been leased for a period of seven years from May 15, 2009 to May 14, 2016 for setting up a Centre for Perishable Cargo at Ahmedabad Airport.

AAI has issued "No Objection Certificate" to GAICL with various terms and conditions for enabling them to engage an agency for operation and management of the existing Centre for Perishable Cargo.

GAIC acts as a nodal agency for Government of Gujarat, Government of India, Directorate of Agriculture, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Gujarat Electricity Board, etc. Some of the main objectives of GAIC encompass enhancing agriculture environment by providing improved farming techniques, job opportunities for farming graduates and technicians, better marketing and export strategies, etc. (KNN/SD)
