Mohali ESIC Row, dispensary being operated at ambulance driver’s quarters: Doctor

New Delhi, July 8 (KNN) Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Mohali is in the news again for its pathetic medical services that it offers to the workers insured with the corporation. The Kharad ESIC dispensary that is functioning in the Korali region is located in the quarters of the ambulance driver, ESIC Kharad Doctors have alleged.

There is no proper infrastructure in place. Also the dingy rooms don’t allow for appropriate staff because of which the dispensary is in a pathetic state, said Jasbir Singh from Mohali Industries Association quoted a newspaper as saying.

The Doctors in a complaint to the Senior Medical Officer of the ESIC hospital Mohali grieved about this issue, the media report highlighted.

The Doctors informed that there is no proper equipment required for the treatment of the patients, with such condition prevailing it is next to impossible to continue in the region.

Also the doctors alleged that they have to bring the medicines in their own vehicles because there is no other option.

The letter demands immediate allotment of proper area for the dispensary. It has also requested the ESIC officials to install necessary infrastructure in place and recruit medical staff.

With such conditions prevailing and the doctors themselves grieving about the situation, addressing the concerns of the poor insured workers becomes impractical said Mohali District Association’s Chairman Jasbir Singh.

Also MIA recently obtained data that pointed at the increase in profit of the ESIC year after year whereas the services continue to degrade. (KNN/ DA)

ESIC knows only to take money.NO where in its 70 years history since inception it has fullfilled its social security obligation and only interested in collecting exhorbitantly expensive contributions. Not a single individual woker or employer is happy with its performance. Its high time statutory compulsion to contribute is withdrawn and made it voluntory. only then as Mr. Jaitly said in his first budget speech workers are hostages.Let ESI/PF compete in the open market and allow private players to be in social security.
