MSME entrepreneur complains of lackadaisical attitude of UP government officials in E-Tendering

New Delhi, May 8 (KNN) The E-Tendering process has been claimed by the government to be fair and transparent time and again. Also the UP Government recently took the decision to go for ‘E-Tendering ‘for all government contracts. But with the problems prevailing in the e-tendering mechanism, the fairness and transparency of the mechanism claim fall flat.

Talking to KNN, an MSME entrepreneur who wished not to reveal his identity, informed about the problems he had faced filing e-tender for different contracts.

Citing the case of tender with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) he said that the evaluation of tenders were supposed to be loaded on 6^th of March and applicants were supposed to raise observations by 14^th of March. He says that when they tried to look for the evaluation report on the website they couldn’t find it. Following which they approached the officials again and again and it was only on 25^th of April i.e., a month later that they were provided the evaluation sheet. The officials said that the website had it on the appropriate date and there was no way in which the MSME entrepreneur could contest that claim.

Talking about another case he said that his company filed an online tender with the U.P government. The procurement portal initially didn’t properly mention the date on which the tender would be opened.  Another mail from the authority was sent to him recently that said the tender would be opened on 2^nd of May. But till date there is no information of the same on the website.

The Entrepreneur wants the government to address these shortcomings in the e tendering procedure to facilitate better ease of doing business and help realise the governments ambition of steady economic growth.
