MSME in Ludhiana urges Punjab govt to clear GST, VAT refunds

Ludhiana, Jun 9 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state have requested the Punjab government to clear Value Added Tax (VAT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) refunds immediately.

In this regard, on Saturday, the CICU Steering Committee meeting held a meeting with the state government and apprised them of the current situation.

We have raised several issues and urged him to expedite GST and VAT refunds soon. In addition to this, other issues like restarting of mining, resolution of labour issues and waiver of fixed charges for electricity, were also brought to the notice of the government'' said S Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU).

''We also urged the central government to give interest subvention to MSME for six months, Vehicle Scrap policy (15 years) must implement immediately as it will help auto industry to survive and for better availability of scrap, CLSS & TUF Scheme to be restart with higher funds,'' Ahuja added. 

The meeting was attended by steering committee members, by namely S Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU, Pankaj Sharma, General Secretary, J S Bhogal, publicity Secretary, S B Singh Joint Secretary, Honey Sethi Organizing Secretary, Didarjit Singh, Vice President and Sanjay Dhiman.

A few days back, Commerce and Industry Minister Sham Sunder Arora had assured MSMEs in the state to run buses, special trains to ferry migrants back to Punjab.

The Minister said this, on Thursday, during a meeting with city businessmen where discussions were also held over the various issues related to the Industry.

''Special trains and buses will be run to bring back labour in the Industry and other issues related to power, pollution, VAT, c forms, Labour reforms etc will be resolved soon,'' CICU quoted Arora as saying.
