MSME Support & Outreach Programme under 100-Day Campaign of govt for weavers organized in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 12 (KNN) The valedictory function of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Support and Outreach Programme under the 100-Day Campaign of the Government of India was organized in Mirza, a major town in South Kamrup district of Assam.

In the event there where more than 300 weavers from different areas of Kamrup district participated in the day-long programme.

A technical session was also held for the benefit of the handloom weavers.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of Weavers Service Centre, East Zone, Guwahati under the Union Ministry of Textile, S Bandopadhyaya said that Kamrup district has been identified as a focused district in the handloom sector under the 100- day MSME campaign which was launched by the Prime Minister on November 2, 2018.

He mentioned that support and outreach programmes under the 100-Day MSME Extensive Campaign was undertaken to generate awareness among the weavers about various handloom schemes and also to extend different benefits to the handloom weavers.

He said that altogether 28,305 weavers and allied workers of Kamrup district were enrolled for different interventions and marketing support under the 100-day MSME campaign. The weavers were provided identity cards and yarn-related passbooks.

Handloom weavers identified under the 100-day MSME campaign were provided Mudra loan from different banks of Kamrup district at 6 percent interest, which is one of the lowest rate imposed in any scheme, Bandopadhyaya said.

He said that margin money assistance of maximum Rs 10,000 per weaver would also be provided based on their projects.

Further, he said more than 2000 applications under the MUDRA scheme have been submitted in various banks of Kamrup district and 382 loan proposals were already sanctioned by different commercial banks.

Deputy Handloom Director of the State Handloom and Textile Department, Jayanta Das, DGM of NHDC, Guwahati, S Rajkumar, besides Baikuntha Phukan, Manager of Mirza SBI, also spoke on the occasion. (KNN Bureau)
