MSME Technology centre to come up in Arasur, Coaimbatore

Coimbatore, Dec 28 (KNN) In a bid to set up to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) technology park here, the MSME ministry has identified 14.6 acres at Arasur village in Sulur block said R Vijayakumar, assistant director in-charge of the MSME Development Institute in Coimbatore.

“It will have the latest equipment that most of the MSMEs could not afford. The units can make use of the equipment, which will help them meet international competition by improving product quality. The centre will meet the needs of foundries, coir units, and automobile and textile industries,’’ Vijayakumar said.

‘’Before finalizing the machineries, another round of meeting will be conducted with the industrialists,” he added.

Reportedly, the office of the commissioner of MSMEs has written to the state government for land transfer.

Vijayakumar further informed that competent authority has approved the site for establishment of the new technology centre in Coimbatore.

Under the Technology Centre Systems Programme, the central government had allotted funds to set up technology centres in 12 cities, including Coimbatore, in 2019. The government has allotted Rs 200 crore to set up the centre in the district.
