MSME Technology centre to come up near Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Dec 15 (KNN)  In a move that will provide a boost to the micro, small and medium enterprises in Andhra Pradesh, the government will be setting up a world class technology centre at Atchutapuram, 40 kms from here, according to a report by The Hindu.
 
The project has been sanctioned in response to a proposal by Visakha Autonagar Small-Scale Industrialists Welfare Association (VASSIWA) and MSME Institute at Autonagar, Gajuwaka.
 
As many as 20 acres of land have been allotted for the proposed centre for which the Ministry of MSME will invest about Rs 140 crore. 
 
The Centre will have all the facilities to conduct quality checks as those stipulated by the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) and National Accreditation Board of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), the media report said. 
 
Besides, it will be equipped to offer training to entrepreneurs in high-tech as well as traditional trades, material and products, in addition to facilities for energy audit and environment management.
 
Commenting on the project, “This is a very big development to give a fillip to investments in the MSME sector. We have requested Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra to kick-start work on the project by laying the foundation stone,” the media report quoted Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu as saying on Sunday.
 
According to VASSIWA founder-president, Ramakrishna Narappareddy, in Visakhapatnam alone, there are 2,000 units, of which 200 are medium-scale enterprises.  The soon to come up centre, he said would boost their business and help upgrade the skills of workforce through training programmes.
