Guwahati, 31 Dec (KNN) The industrial sector in Assam contribute to 39% of the state’s GDP of 2021-22 (at current prices) which is projected to be INR 3,77,102 crore. 

However, firms took 248 days to set up their businesses in the state, as published in North East Now. 

Further, the Assam Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (ASIDC) which is a nodal department for procurement, has stated that they hadn’t received a single procurement to date with adherence to the procurement preference policy 2021. 

The officials of ASIDC have expressed that it leaves them with no alternatives due to the covid pandemic. 

“But interestingly at the same time, other Indian states were using mass mediums like radio for broadcasting awareness programs on MSME,” said ASIDC. 

They have also raised the issue of absence of high credit score or collaterals, as most of the banks perceive MSMEs as risky clients. 

Further the lack of infrastructure facilities in MSME in Assam has impeding its growth along with is a lack of an entrepreneurial mindset among the people of Assam.
