MSMEs in J&K demand to extend Power Amnesty Scheme till March 31st, 2022

Jammu, May 12 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have urged Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to extend the Power Amnesty Scheme.    

In this regard, Lalit Mahajan, Chairman, Federation of Industries (FOIJ), Jammu drew Governor's and Rohit Kansal (IAS), Principal Secretary, Power Development Department attention towards the industrial sector of J&K, who is still suffering due to ongoing COVID-19 situation since March 2020.

''Due to the financial crunch a number of units have not availed the Power Amnesty Scheme which was valid till 30-11-2020,'' FOIJ said on Wednesday.

FOIJ further said that numbers of cases of industrial units pending with the Power Development Department (PDD) due to dispute arises out in respect of Power Arrears of the units closed since long with the disconnection of power but the Department is still charging the minimum demand charges along with the compounded interest from the date of disconnection whereas as per the JKSERC tariff only simple interest should be charged.

''We request Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha & Rohit Kansal to consider our request for the extension of Power Amnesty Scheme as notified by Government order No- 140-JKPDD-2020 dated 28-08-2020 which was extended up to 30-11-2020 with the further extension of the same up to 31-03-2022. It will help for the recovery of long pending arrears of the PDD,'' FOIJ said.
