MSMEs welcome Karnataka govt's decision to lift curbs on interstate movement
Bangalore, Aug 26 (KNN) Soon after the Karnataka government decided to lift curbs on interstate movement under Unlock-3, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state welcomed the decision and said it will pave the industries to carry on their operations unfettered.
''The steps taken to ease interstate movement will help in smooth flow of goods and services and raw materials and supply of finished goods to both domestic and international markets. This should also help in cost reduction by optimising movement of freight etc. without having to undergo complex operations,'' said K B Arasappa, president, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA).
He further said that the discontinuation of other measures namely screening, hand stamping and quarantine and isolation will result in easy flow of men and materials and should benefit industry.
The Karnataka government on Monday revised the protocols for interstate travellers and issued a circular saying that no quarantine period, no hand stamping, no registration and medical check-up at the state borders is required. This is a first since the coronavirus COVID-19 induced lockdowns were implemented in March.
The Centre on August 22 had asked all states to ensure that there should be no restrictions on the inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods during the ongoing unlocking process.
