MSSDS to set up 8 skill development centres in Meghalaya
Shillong, Oct 18 (KNN) Eight training centres are being set up for skill training programme under the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), said skill development officer, Lambormi Suchen on Monday.
He was speaking at the inaugural function for the training programme on food processing and soap making being held at the Mihmyntdu village located in Thadlaskein subdivision of Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya.
Sixty-one youth have been selected to undergo 15-day skill training which is being conducted by the Jaintia Hills Development Society (JHDS) in collaboration with the office of the West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner. The training programme is being funded under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner, MA Challam said that he hoped that the training programme would benefit the youth and the district would one day no longer depend on buying soap and other products fr0m outside.
Programme Coordinator JHDS Denis Kurkalang, Fr. Manbha Pakem, Director JHDS, Fr. Ferdinand Dkhar Diocesan Administrator Jowai Diocese and others were present at the programme.
The ceremony was held at the Samanlang Socio-Cultural Pastoral Centre. (KNN Bureau)
