Multi-skill centre to come up in West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand

West Singhbhum, June 28 (KNN) The West Singhbhum District Administration has signed an agreement with the Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) to build the first-ever multi-skill centre in the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Ananya Mittal (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, West Singhbhum and Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation on Monday.

Key authorities present at the event were Santosh Kumar Sinha (JAS), additional district commissioner, Sandeep Bakshi, the District Development Officer and  Capt Amitabh, Head, Skill Development, Tata Steel Foundation

The Multi-skill centre will provide multiple set of short-term training programs aimed at capacity building and creating opportunities for employment generation and entrepreneurship among the youth, predominantly from tribal communities, in the region.

Tata Steel Foundation will take charge of the initial infrastructure. In addition, the arrangement of training partners, trainers and equipment will also be supported by Tata Steel Foundation.

The centre will begin with four courses comprising of warehouse packaging in supply chain, auto service technician, helper technician and mobile assembly in keeping with the government's Make in India campaign. 

Each course will run for either three or six month courses, identified through a study conducted in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony Sourav Roy expressed said “the multi-skill centre marks the beginning of a transformational agenda for the district of West Singhbhum.”

Once ready, this centre will ensure employability for a lot of youth who will receive the training and eventually contribute in meeting the demand for skilled employees in the industrial sectors across the country.  (KNN Bureau)
