Muzaffarnagar MSMEs form consumer body to fight highhandedness of DISCOMS in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 15 (KNN) Fed up with the difficulties industrial consumers face with electricity distribution companies, entrepreneurs in the districts have come together to form UP Industrial Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad.

In a press conference on Sunday, Parishads Chairman, KL Agarwal said the authorities are not sensitive to the problems in the power department and even for small problems there is a requirement of a middle man.

''In the wake of such negligence, entrepreneurs have come together to set up UP Industrial Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad to solve their problems,'' he added.

He said that due to lack of any system to solve problems in the electricity department, consumers are facing exploitation both at financial and mental level adding, ''No problem can be solved in the department without middle man or brokers.''

He further said that problems are being ignored on a daily basis as officials are working in their own style leaving the rules aside.

''There is no hearing and redressal of problems, interruptions in daily power supply, tripping, unnecessary delay in fixing the fault, necessary amendments in bills and non-payment of interest on security deposit of consumers for the financial year 2020-21 etc are the problems from which consumers are suffering,'' he added.

He further alleged that in the power department if one's request for a new connection or want to increase or decrease current electric load, can only be done through a broker.

The members present in the press conference expressed their concerns and requested Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath to establish a branch of Anti-Corruption Bureau at the district level.

The Parishads also demanded to include electricity duty charged Goods and Services Tax (GST) and provide three-phase pre-paid meters to the industrial consumers at the earliest.

The Parishad also demanded to investigate the scams involving crores of rupees in various blocks and subdivisions of the state government within three months under power distribution - Muzaffarnagar block - third Muzaffarnagar, power distribution block Khatauli and power distribution board - first from any other independent agency.

In this council, Ashok Aggarwal and Naveen Jain have been appointed as Patrons, KL Agarwal chairman, Vipul Bhatnagar and Manish Bhatia vice chairman and Rajneesh Tyagi as secretary.
