NABARD convenes meeting for promotion of handicrafts in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada, Aug 25 (KNN) The Andhra Pradesh regional office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) called upon a state- level regional advisory meeting for the promotion of handicrafts in the state.

The primary objective of the meet was to deliberate on issues related to marketing of handicrafts products made by the local artisan. It aimed at exploring, identifying and analysing the potential, areas of convergence in off-farm sector through discussion with stakeholders, institutions, channel partners, focusing the constraints in marketing of handicrafts and suitable interventions required to tackle them.  

Addressing the meet, NABARD CGM M.R. Gopal appealed to all stakeholders to ensure convergence for the development of handicrafts, betterment of artisans and craftsmen.

Gopal further stressed on the importance of handicrafts in the MSME sector and called for more skill development programmes to be arranged for local artisan to help them develop industry related skills.

NABARD GM N.S. Murthy, SLBC Coordinator E. Raja Babu were amongst those present at the meet.  (KNN Bureau)
