NABARD sanctions financial assistance of Rs 230 cr for Mizoram

Aizawl, Aug 30 (KNN) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 230 crore to Mizoram for critical rural infrastructure development under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.

The Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga in a tweet said “NABARD has approved the allocation of Rs 230 crore under RIDF XXVIII for rural infrastructure projects in Mizoram.”

He said that KVSSLV Prasada Rao, General Manager, Mizoram regional office, on Monday handed over a letter from the Chairman NABARD informing about the approved funds. Zoramthanga thanked NABARD for extending support to the state for rural development.

NABARD had begun functioning in Mizoram as a sub-office in 1989 which was later upgraded to a full-fledged Regional Office in 1992.

According to the data on the official website of NABARD, since the inception of the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) in 1995-96, it has sanctioned aggregate loans amounting to Rs 1744.51 crore involving 677 projects for critical rural infrastructure. Out of the total sum, Rs 1071.81 crore has been disbursed so far.  (KNN Bureau)
