Nagaland Govt to provide interest-free loans to micro-farmers, entrepreneurs

Kohima, June 17 (KNN) Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio during the inaugural  ceremony of Directorate of under Developed Area (DUDA) on Tuesday said that the State government would soon be providing interest-free loans to micro farmers and entrepreneurs by selecting and interviewing interested persons fr0m all the districts.

State-wide campaign for this purpose will be launched during which interactions would be held with micro farmers and entrepreneurs.

Speaking on the occasion Rio said “the Government will bear the interest for the loans, however the beneficiaries should get the approval or guarantor fr0m the village authorities to avail the scheme.”

“Speaking on the importance of entrepreneurship, Rio stressed that fishery farming, piggery, bakery, breeding farms, etc, have a huge scope in the State”, he added.

Rio also stated that the eastern region is now different and one should not have the mentality of reservation and backwardness. He stated that the area has advanced in many fields, and cited the recent HSLC and HSSLC results.

The State aims to impart training in the IT sector and skills development to farmers and entrepreneurs to help them link Agri and home furnishing products to the market through digital prints.  (KNN Bureau)
