Kohima, Nov 13 (KNN)  In an effort to promote sustainable economy through the use of locally available resources, a seminar was organised by Kushe Humanity Foundation.

Sponsored by the Local Area Development Fund (LADF), the event was organised in Nagaland’s Pughoboto town for the welfare of rural people.

The seminar focused on prospects and drawbacks in horticultural in the region, challenges in agriculture, livestock husbandry, and prospects for artisans and small scale industry.

Participants were encouraged to take up business oriented trade and cultivation oriented business.  Focus was made on self-generating income rather than depending on government subsidies.

Recommendations were made on the need to focus more on economic development in the area through river conservation, forest conservation, bamboo plantation, agricultural cycle, and orchards among others.

The seminar saw the participation of around 300 delegates.  (KNN/ST)
