45-day long Weavers Skill Training starts in Tuensang, Nagaland under Samarth scheme

Dimapur, Nov 18 (KNN) Local weavers of Tuensang in Nagaland are undergoing skill upgradation training for 45 days which would cover 315 hours under the Samarth scheme.

During the training period trainees will be compensated with a wage of Rs 300 per day, reported Eastern Mirror.

It was inaugurated earlier this week in presence of Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC of Tuensang at District Industries Centre (DIC) office in Tuensang.

Samarth scheme is sponsored by the Ministry of Textile, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Weavers Service Centre, government of India.

Encouraging all the trainees to be serious and attentive, Tungoe said the training is about skill upgradation in handloom and it would focus on small scale unorganised handloom related sector.

Highlighting the importance of the scheme to upgrade their skills that would directly boost their trade, he said that the scheme would help build their small-scale industries and subsequently generate employment and lead towards sustainability.

A brief on the objective of Samarth Scheme was given by Naresh Jambulkar, assistant director of Weavers Service Centre, Dimapur.

He informed that the Samarth scheme would be for 45 days of training, which would cover 315 hours. He added that 80% of attendance would enable them to be eligible for the certification, stipends, and other beneficiaries.

He stressed on the importance of Pechaan Card for the weavers of the district to avail terms of loans and subsidies.  (KNN Bureau)
