National Handloom Exhibition underway in Konark till June 13

Bhubaneswar, June 9 (KNN) A national level Handicraft Exhibition is being organised by the Utkalika, the Odisha State Co-operative Handicraft Corporation from June 4-13 at Urban Haat, Konark.

The event is sponsored by Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and Co-Sponsored by Govt. of Odisha.

Shubha Sarma, Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary inaugurated the event in the presence of Saroj Kumar Patel, Special Secretary, HT&H Department and MD, Utkalika and other officials.

The objective of the craft bazar is to provide the artisans with a platform to market their products.

With 100 Handicraft Artisans displaying their exclusive products, the fair is expected to draw 50,000 visitors and customers. It is expected to generate a business of 40 lakhs for the artisans.

Significant Handicrafts of state such as Stone Carving, Wood Carving, Pattachitra, Tassar Painting, Silver Filigree, Applique, Terracotta, Dhokra Casting, Golden Grass, Brass and Bell Metal, Paddy Craft, Lacquer Toys, Soft Toy, Horn Crafts, Seashell, Paper Mashie, Wooden Toy are being displayed in the event.  (KNN Bureau)
