New incubation facility at software technology park in Patna

Patna, Nov 8 (KNN) The Minister for Communications and IT, Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad today laid the foundation stone for the new incubation facility at the Software Technology Park of India (STPI) here.

“The new facility would act as a resource centre for IT/ITeS exporting units by offering infrastructural facilities like ready to use state of art incubation facilities, High Speed Data Communication (HSDC) with uninterrupted data connectivity and other amenities as required for development and export of software and services,” said an official release.

The new facility would be operational within two years and stimulate to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for the IT educated masses of this region.

The presence of STPI-Patna has opened up new opportunities by offering the entire spectrum of services for IT/ITES industry in the state.

STPI has also been instrumental in promoting IT exports from State of Bihar.  Over the years STPI Patna has played a very important role to promote the city as a preferred IT destination and act as single window agency for IT/ITeS industries by putting new milestones in Software exports of the State. 

Software exports from the state which is recorded at Rs 10 crore during the year 2013-14 with cumulative exports of over Rs.35 crore has brought the state on to the IT Map of the country. STPI’s efforts have also created generation of direct and indirect employment and overall development of economy of the state.

The new Incubation centre of STPI Patna would be a step forward to facilitate and support the dynamic entrepreneurs of the Bihar to explore global opportunity to enable State reaching new height in IT exports and an initiative towards building a Digital India.

The concept of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) was conceived during the year 1991 to distinctly focus for promotion of IT/ITeS exports from the country by providing single window regulatory services under STP & EHTP schemes, plug and play incubation facilities for the start-up companies and young entrepreneurs as well as High Speed Data communication services for seamless access for offshore IT/ITeS exports. Starting with a few centres in 1991, STPI has grown all over the country with 53 centres.

STPI Patna was established in year 2008.  STPI has created 11500 sq. ft. built up space. The existing facility is with IIT Patna and the same is being taken by STPI for the incubation purpose soon. Further, STPI is setting up new Incubation facility at Patna to cater the need of IT Industries and boosting the entrepreneurship and IT exports from the State of Bihar.

This facility at Patna would also be used for one of the Digital India initiatives i.e. indigenous production of IT hardware and software for exports and also to support software product startups.  (KNN/ES)
