NGT directs committee to inspect plastic industries in Narela and Bawana not abiding pollution norms

New Delhi, Sept 25 (KNN) The specialized body to handle environment related cases, National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered to form a committee to inspect plastic industries in Narela and Bawana that are allegedly causing pollution.

A Bench headed by NGT Chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel constituted a panel to probe this matter abd asked the committee members to file the report within one month.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) will be the representatives of committee to probe the matter, the Bench said.

Over this matter, the NGT Bench said, “Allegation is that pollution is being caused by the plastic industry making shoes. They are not maintaining the pollution and waste management norms. They are throwing their industrial waste here and there in the area which is creating a problem for the residents and the environment and is a health hazard.”

NGT directions came on when a plea was filed by the residents of the area seeking action against plastic industries making shoe soles and other inflammable items causing environment pollution in the region by not following the waste management norms.
