NHDC distributes yarn passbook card to local registered weavers in Nagaland
Kohima, May 25 (KNN) The National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDC) on Tuesday distributed passbook cards to local registered weavers in the Tiyi Hall Wokha in Nagaland where it conducted a one day seminar on dissemination of government schemes under Ministry of Textiles.
The distribution of passbooks was sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms.
Speaking at the programme, T Lankonsen Tsanglao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Wokha said that for guaranteed livelihood skill development is necessary for the youth.
He said that apart from traditional textbook knowledge the school curriculum can impart job oriented education.
Tsanglao informed to not only avail the schemes/benefit but cultivate it in a successful manner which will help in family income and progress of society.
Elaborating the multiple benefits through the Ministry of Textile and Handlooms, Nchumbemo Patton, GM District Industry and Commerce Wokha encouraged the weavers’ society and individuals to avail the benefit and bring success stories to the department and for their own.
While sharing about the schemes and benefits, Nilesh Sukhadev, Sr. Manager, NHDC Ltd. Guwahati said Nagaland is rich in textiles but unfortunate that ‘people don’t come out to market’ their products.
He said that weavers should avail the opportunities when trade fair expo sales are organised by the Ministry of Textiles And Handloom where stalls are free for the sector.
About 200 individuals from various handloom weavers and society attended the seminar. (KNN Bureau)
