No sanction for power subsidy for North Maharashtra industries makes us incompetent in front of big industries: NIMA

New Delhi, Mar 27 (KNN) The Nashik industries which had demanded the state government to earmark at least Rs 500 crore in the  budget to give power subsidy to industries of north Maharashtra on the same lines as industries in Vidarbha and Marathwada, seems disappointed.

Government has not sanctioned the amount in the Maharashtra Budget 2018-19, Mangesh Patankar, President of Nashik Industries and Manufacturers Association (NIMA) told KNN.

“The amount of 500 crore as a power subsidy for industries of North Maharashtra had been demanded for the benefit of Steel industries,” he added.

He said that around 25 steel industries are there in north Maharashtra but only 8 to 10 are running out of them.

Thus in order to make them sustain and remove the difference of power subsidy between the industries of North Maharashtra and industries of Vidarbha and Marathwada , we urged the government but it has not sanctioned the amount as we have demanded and as they have promised last year, he added.

He said that many industries in North Maharashtra can’t compete with big industries and thus to sustain the productivity we asked for funds. (KNN/YV)
