North East Skill Centre officially handed over to ASDM by ITE Singapore

Guwahati, July 6 (KNN) The Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) will officially take over the reins of the North East Skill Centre (NESC) after it was formally handed over by ITE Education Services of Singapore on Tuesday.

A ceremony was held in presence of visiting senior minister of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Assam minister for skill development employment & entrepreneurship Jayanta Malla Baruah.

Other key persons who attended the event included Simon Wong, Singapore High Commissioner to India, Assam industry minister Bimal Borah, amongst others.

Speaking on the occasion, Baruah said, "We are immensely thankful to the government of Singapore for not only helping us in establishing the NESC but also coming forward and showing interest in collaborating with Assam across many sectors, which will be mutually beneficial for both the state of Assam and Singapore."

"Assam has tremendous potential for growth and the upcoming mega projects such as Assam Skill University can be a role model for the rest of India in terms of vocational education," Shanmugaratnam said.

 An agreement was signed between ITE Education Services, Singapore, and the state government in October 2016 to develop a state-of-the art infrastructure for imparting skill training to the youth.  (KNN Bureau)
