Number of women led start-ups in UP exceeds 4,000: official

Lucknow, Mar 24 (KNN) Around 50 per cent of the start-ups in Uttar Pradesh are being run by Women, said Akshay Tripathi, special secretary, IT and Electronics, government of Uttar Pradesh.
He pointed out that out of 8,713 registered start-ups in the state, 4,305 are led by women entrepreneurs.
“Women are being given an additional grant of 50 per cent. The department can give a maximum grant of Rs 7.5 lakh. If the share of a woman in a start-up is more than 26 per cent, then an additional grant of 50 per cent will be given, which is equivalent to a maximum of Rs 3.75 lakh,” he informed.
In addition to this, the state government is also providing a monthly sum of Rs 17,500 for a year.
Neha Misra, whose expertise lies in investment, insurance and pension planning and other financial matters, started 'The Fin Lit Project' to educate people on financial literacy.
Misra, who hails from Lucknow, developed a mobile application that has so far been downloaded by close to 5000 people.
