Odisha minister calls PSUs to raise procurement from small industry

New Delhi, Dec 16 (KNN) Industries Minister of Odisha Debi Prasad Mishra told central public sector undertakings (PSUs) to raise their procurement from micro and small enterprises (MSEs) of the state from 20 per cent to 25 per cent of their total requirement, said a media report.

At the closing ceremony of four-day MSME Expo Odisha-2014 in Cuttack, Mishra emphasised the government’s commitment to promote manufacturing sector in the state.
The national vendor development programme cum industrial exhibition and buyer-seller meet was held from December 11-14.

According to the report, Mishra said new industrial policy is scheduled to be announced in March, 2015.

The local industries, entrepreneurs and industry bodies should come forward with their suggestions and proposals so that the policy can address gamut of problems and issues ailing the industrial sector, he said.

Around 120 MSMEs and 25 mother plants, financial institutions, government departments, Nalco, MCL, NTPC, PPT, Paradip Refinery Project (IOCL), Ordnance Factory, ODCL, East Coast Railways, Tata Steel, IFFCO, NINL and BSNL participated in the programme. (KNN Bureau)
