Odisha plans to facilitate Rs 50,000 cr bank credit to MSMEs in 4 yrs

Bhubaneswar, June 24 (KNN) The Odisha government has set a target of facilitating Rs 50,000 crore credit from banks to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state by 2019.

According to a media report, the state MSME department is making all out efforts to ensure credit flow to the units goes up sharply. In 2014-15, loans advanced to MSMEs by banks stood at Rs 9,142 crore, 92 per cent increase over Rs 4,500 crore credits disbursed in 2013-14.

The department has proposed to promote 150,000 enterprises in the state and create employment opportunities for 400,000 youths. It also aimed to set up additional 60,000 village industries through Khadi and Village Industries Board in the next four year, said the report.

The department is expected to notify an Entrepreneurship Development Policy in next three months.

Core operations skills such as accounts, basic legal knowledge, ICT, communication and management skills will be developed and circulated among higher secondary and vocational schools in consultation with the respective departments. (KNN Bureau)
