Odisha Secures Rs 913 Crore Investment Commitments From Women Entrepreneurs
Bhubaneswar, Aug 1 (KNN) The Odisha government has secured investment commitments worth Rs 913.13 crore through 13 MoUs with women entrepreneurs across sectors, with the proposed projects expected to generate 4,302 direct jobs.

The MoUs were signed at an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Indian Women Network (IWN) in Bhubaneswar as part of the state's efforts to promote women as entrepreneurs, employers and investors, reported Business Standard.
The proposed investments cover sustainable agriculture and agribusiness, food processing, agritech, steel, renewable energy equipment, garment manufacturing, biotechnology, manufacturing, agro-processing, hospitality, fisheries supply-chain infrastructure and assembly of motors and pumps.
Hospitality Projects Account For Major Investment Proposals
Odyssey Leisure Pvt Ltd has proposed the largest investment of Rs 350 crore in hospitality projects across Koraput, Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj, expected to create 600 jobs.
World Hotels plans a Rs 100 crore hospitality project in Koraput with 200 jobs, while Amiha will invest Rs 100 crore in sustainable agriculture and agribusiness in Kalahandi, generating 120 jobs.
Elmentoz Research will invest Rs 80 crore in biotechnology in Khordha, and Saha Steel Group Rs 60 crore in steel manufacturing in Angul.
Other proposals cover food processing, garments, renewable energy equipment, agritech and fisheries infrastructure across four districts.
Odisha Strengthens Support For Women Entrepreneurs
Chief Secretary Anu Garg said Odisha is committed to making women equal partners in industrial growth and entrepreneurship through initiatives such as Mission Shakti, Subhadra and women-focused skilling programmes.
Industries Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma said infrastructure, investor facilitation, mentorship and institutional support through IPICOL and District Investment Promotion Agencies are being strengthened to improve women's access to finance, markets and business opportunities.
Women Entrepreneurs In Odisha Rise Over Eightfold
Under the theme Shakti ru Samruddhi (Strength to Prosperity), the event brought together industry leaders, investors and women entrepreneurs.
Science and Technology Additional Chief Secretary Chitra Arumugam said Startup Odisha, incubation, innovation support and MSME initiatives are helping women build scalable businesses.
Registered women entrepreneurs in Odisha have grown more than eightfold in six years, from 49,454 in 2020–21 to 4,05,719 in 2025–26. The state now has over 14.4 lakh women-led MSMEs, with 1,24,682 registered in FY26 alone.
