Odisha Small Industries Corporation registers turnover of 532 crores, 7.83 Crores Profit

New Delhi, June 10 (KNN) The Odisha Small industries Corporation (OSIC) hit the 500 crore mark with a turnover of 531 crores for the year 2016-17. The margin of profit amounted to 7.83 crore rupees.

In a press interview L.N Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary for MSME said that the turnover was possible through the commercial and marketing activities of the Corporation.

He further appealed to the OSIC to focus on extending services to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Elaborating further the Secretary said that the OSIC should call regular meetings with the MSMEs to discuss and develop on the possible potentials in different sectors of the MSMEs.

There are various measures that are proposed and planned under the OSIC, these include the enhanced marketing of items under ‘Odi-food’ and ‘Odi-Tech’ brand of the corporation.

He also informed that the OSIC is in the processs of extending electrification facilities in regions of Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada, Bargarh and Kandhamal. The project amounts to 532 crores.

In order to facilitate better implementation of civil and electrical projects, the government is considering deputation of officers from Works and Energy Departments.

Managing Director at OSIC, Niranjan Sahu informed that the OSIC intends to achieve a target of 140 crores alone for the execution of electrical works this year. He further said that this could be achieved only with the OSIC collaborating with the MSMEs

Considering the successful turnover, the target for this fiscal year has been further revised to 750 crores, Gupta added. (KNN/DA)
