Odisha to develop 50,000 acres land bank for public, industrial purposes

Bhubaneswar, Aug 12 (KNN) The Odisha Industry Department officials have been directed to develop a land bank of at least 50, 000 acres for public and industrial purposes, and also work out a strategy for land acquisition.

The Industries department along with IDCO and IPICOL have been directed to carry forward the initiatives in a time bound manner.

Reviewing the activities of the industry department at a high level meeting held here yesterday, Chief Secretary G C Pati directed the officials to develop a land bank of at least 50,000 acres for public and industrial purposes.

The department has also been asked to work out a definite work strategy for land acquisition in the light of the new Land Acquisition Act.

Pati has also directed the team to streamline single window mechanism and has directed that the IPICOL single window meetings should be held more frequently and address pending issues of already cleared proposal for expediting them.

The Industry department has also been asked to finalize the draft IPR for 2014 within this month.

The chief secretary has sought focus on development of downstream and value addition industries in clusters.

He indicated that all the steel plants should be asked to promote downstream industries and at least 25 per cent of the steel produced in Odisha should be put to value addition in downstream industries, it said.

Further, the department has been asked to deploy dedicated teams for each industrial cluster with firm date lines for milestones to be accomplished. (KNN/SD)
