Odisha CM Majhi Confirms Land Acquisition for Keonjhar Steel Plant
Odisha, Aug 4 (KNN) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has officially announced that the land acquisition process for a major steel plant in Keonjhar district has been completed.
This development is seen as a significant milestone in boosting industrial growth in the mineral-rich region of Odisha.
The steel plant project is being led by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), which is a joint venture between global steel giants ArcelorMittal and Japan's Nippon Steel.
The plant, to be located in the Patna tehsil of Keonjhar, is expected to bring large-scale employment opportunities and enhance the region's infrastructure and economy.
CM Majhi revealed that around 2,000 acres of land have been acquired for the proposed project.
He added that his government is fully committed to supporting industrial development in Odisha, ensuring that necessary clearances and facilities are provided to investors promptly.
The CM also emphasised the importance of ensuring the rights and welfare of local communities during the industrialisation process.
The steel plant by AM/NS India is part of the company’s broader investment plan in Odisha, which includes setting up integrated steel units and enhancing capacity.
The state government views such investments as crucial in transforming Odisha into a leading manufacturing hub in India.
This announcement follows CM Majhi's visit to the region, where he interacted with officials and local stakeholders to review the progress of the project.
He assured that the government will facilitate the next stages of development, including construction and operations, in a time-bound and transparent manner.
The successful completion of land acquisition marks a major step towards realising Odisha’s industrial ambitions and promises economic upliftment for Keonjhar and surrounding areas.
