Odisha Signs 33 Textile MoUs Worth Rs 7,808 Crore, Targets 53,300 Jobs

Bhubaneswar, Jul 28 (KNN) The Odisha government signed 33 Memoranda of Understanding with textile and apparel companies on Friday, securing collective investments worth Rs 7,808 crore that are projected to generate 53,300 employment opportunities across the state.

The agreements were finalised during the Odisha TEX 2025 event, which saw participation from over 160 companies.

Major industry players including Page Industries, First Step Baby Wear, KPR Mills, Sportking, Adarsh Knitwear, and Anubhav Apparels participated in the textile summit.

The state government indicated that additional investment commitments received during the event could significantly transform Odisha's apparel manufacturing landscape.

As part of its industrial development strategy, Odisha launched two state-of-the-art textile and footwear parks equipped with plug-and-play facilities designed to meet global manufacturing standards.

The initiative also includes the introduction of modern workers' hostels aimed at enhancing industrial stability and workforce retention.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced enhanced employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile and Apparel Policy 2022.

The monthly subsidies will increase from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per male worker and from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 per female worker. The Chief Minister also established a dedicated task force under the industries department to expedite investment implementation processes.

The state has outlined an ambitious expansion plan targeting the creation of over one lakh jobs in the textiles and apparel sector by 2030. New textile clusters are planned for development in Bolangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagasinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack districts.

"With world-class infrastructure, progressive policies, and a skilled workforce, we are creating unmatched opportunities for investors and livelihoods for our people," Chief Minister Majhi stated during the event.
