Paradip Port to expand industrial growth of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 28, (KNN)  With a growth of 33.13 per cent over the cargo handled during the financial year of 2012-13, Paradip Port of Odisha is planning to enhance its capacity by renovating its infrastructure.

It has handled 34.12 million tonnes of cargo during the first six months of 2013 compared to 25.63 million tonnes during 2012.

The port which has recently made an agreement with Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) to set up an LNG Terminal, in a bid to improve traffic.

It is set to play the role of key facilitator in the industrial growth of Odisha as the pivotal gateway for import and export of project materials and finished products. 

The Paradip Port equipped with fourteen berths along with three single point mooring (SPM) of Indian Oil Company and one roll-on/off Jetty, having a capacity of 106 million tonnes to handle diversified commodities, is among major ports with highest capacity. (KNN/ST)
