PM exhorts States at NITI Aayog to contribute to boost exports, bridge trade deficit

New Delhi, Aug 8 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged all the states to work towards reducing imports, increasing exports and identifying opportunities for the same in every state.

Addressing the seventh meeting of the Governing Council (GC) of NITI Aayog on Sunday he said that each state should also focus on promoting its 3Ts, Trade, Tourism and Technology.

The meeting was attended by 23 Chief Ministers, 3 Lieutenant Governors and 2 Administrators and Union Ministers and was moderated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

“We should encourage people to use local goods wherever possible and ‘Vocal for local’ is not the agenda of an individual political party but a common goal, said PM Modi.

He said increasing GST collection requires collective action by the Centre and States.

The council discussed four key agenda items which included crop diversification and achieving self-sufficiency in pulses, oilseeds and other agri-commodities.

It also highlighted implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) in school education and National Education Policy in higher education and urban governance.  (KNN Bureau)
