PM Modi launches development projects worth Rs 16,800 cr in Jharkhand, inaugurates Deoghar airport

Deoghar, July 12 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for various developmental projects worth more than Rs 16,800 crores in Deoghar today.

The PM also inaugurated the Deoghar airport and the revamped Baba Baidyanathdham temple. The airport has been constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs. 400 crore. 14 new air routes will also start in Jharkhand soon.

A total of 13 development projects were initiated, and the foundation stone for 12 was laid down.

Speaking at the occasion, Modi said that these projects will provide a huge impetus to Jharkhand's modern connectivity, energy, health and tourism sector. They will also help in significantly boosting the state’s infrastructure.

The Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, state ministers and people’s representatives were among those present at the ceremony.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Hemant Soren appreciated the collaborative efforts taken by the centre and state to develop the backward tribal dominant areas of the state.

The foundation for multiple road projects worth more than Rs. 10,000 crores was also put in motion. 

The projects that were initiated include six-laning of the Gorhar to Barwada section of NH-2; widening of Rajganj-Chas upto the West Bengal border section of NH-32; amongst others.

During his address, Modi also highlighted the benefits of the country’s effort to enhance the gas-based economy for the state of Jharkhand.

"The PM Urja Ganga Yojana is changing the old picture. We are taking many historic decisions to convert deprivation into opportunities, "PM said.

The Bokaro-Angul section of the Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline of GAIL will expand the city gas distribution network in 11 districts of Jharkhand and Odisha.  (KNN Bureau)
