PM to unveil Rs 3800 cr worth mechanization & industry projects in Mangaluru

New Delhi, Aug 30 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of mechanization and industrialisation projects worth about Rs 3800 crore in Mangaluru during his visit to Karnataka on September 2, 2022. 

On the same day he will commission India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier as INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi.

Being a strong proponent of Aatmanirbhart, especially in strategic sectors it will mark a significant step towards self-reliance in the defence sector.

Vikrant has been built with state of the art automation features and is the largest ship ever built in maritime history of India, said the official press release.

It has a large number of indigenous equipment and machinery, involving major industrial houses in the country as well as over 100 MSMEs.

During the event, PM Modi will also unveil the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage.

He will also lay the foundation stone of several other projects and attend inaugural ceremonies in Karnataka and Kerala during upcoming two day visit.  (KNN Bureau)
