PMO fixes deadline for execution of power and rail projects in J & K

New Delhi, Mar 22 (KNN) The Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister fixed deadlines yesterday for the Banihal Quazigund section of the Jammu – Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla rail line and power transmission and its distribution network in Jammu and Kashmir.

Power transmission, its distribution network in Jammu and Kashmir region is to be completed by March, 2014.  The Chutak Hydroelectric power project (HEP) is to be fully commissioned by October, 2013.  The Nimoo – Bazgo HEP is to be completed by December, 2013, an official statement said.

The meeting was attended by the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and secretaries of the concerned ministries of the central government.  They discussed in detail about the railways, power, civil aviation, food processing, tourism and the textile sectors which were suffering from power shortage.

The review meeting held by the PMO's office has asked the Banihal Quazigund of the Jammu-Udhampur Baramulla rail line to be completed within two months.

The deadlines were fixed under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan for Jammu and Kashmir to accelerate the pace of implementation of projects.  (KNN/Gunj)
