Possession, sale of non-duty paid liquor is a major offence, says Delhi Govt

New Delhi, Sept 7 (KNN) Sale of non-duty paid liquor is a major offence under Delhi Excise Act, 2009, Delhi Government has said in a notification adding that even possession of such liquor is a serious offence.
 
“Recently, non-duty paid foreign liquor have been seized in the parties/ function hosted at Banquet Halls Farm Houses/ Motels. Generally, non-duty paid liquor is allegedly being served along with the duty paid liquor purchased against P-10 issued by the department,” Office of the Commissioner of Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Tax said.
 
Presently no action is being taken in such cases against the owners of Banquets, Farm Houses and Motels, it said adding that the “practice seems discriminatory.”
 
The order further stated that the owners of such premises are under legal obligation to keep their premises free from such illicit/ non-duty paid liquor.
 
The Enforcement teams of the department shall not discriminate in taking action including prosecution against alleged offenders, it added. (KNN Bureau)
