Post UP Investors Summit, MSMEs want ‘separate summit for MSMEs’ to take place

Lucknow, Feb 23 (KNN) With the Uttar Pradesh Mega Even ‘UP Investors Summit’ concluding, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have raised that while the event does show positive signs for the state, the government must consider a separate dedicated summit for their sector in future.

Talking to KNN, Krishan Rajeev Singhal, Chapter Chairman of MSME body Indian Industries Association (IIA) said that the event did bring in positive vibes for the overall investment ecosystem in the state, but the subsequent edition of the summit should have a different event for MSMEs.

Explaining further, Singhal said that the concerns of the large players are different than those of the MSMEs, therefore a blanket event is not the best thing.

“Investment announcements touching 100 crores - 1000 crores are not meant for the micro enterprises, also the problems and issues of our sector are much more niche”, Singhal added.

Commenting on the announcements made in the event, Singhal said that the summit being the first of its kind, have been a good initiative, but the MSMEs expected some bigger announcements.

“The state budget that was proposed ahead of the summit did not make any special case for MSMEs, we were eyeing at this summit”, he added.

Also there were no plans for the western part of the state, which was another reason for the disappointment of many of the MSMEs that attended the event, Singhal informed.

“The government have focused on investments in areas of Purvhanchal, whereas the western belts too are in need of some boost, he further said.

The summit kicked off on February 21 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the event.

The 11 key areas for investments this year included civil aviation, IT-enabled services, dairy, electronics manufacturing, tourism, MSME, infrastructure, renewable energy, films, handloom/textile, and agro/food processing. (KNN/DA)
